Primary Google Chrome Extensions : Block Ads Check Pagerank and IE8 Accelerators

At Google i/o conference held at San Francisco on 27-28 May 2009, one of the subjects was Google Chrome's Extension System.



Finally google chrome extensions are being appeared on the web. Extra devices and advanced features are something IE and Firefox users use to know, at last chrome users will get these features.

If you are interested, you can test the features here before they are open for use. You can find some useful extensions. An advertisement blocker called adsweep, a pagerank checker, and cleeki that enables to use ie8 accelerators for chrome.

Some of the features that extensions of Google Chrome is at below:

  1. Extensions will use Html, Javascript and Css. For this reason, developers will be more comfortable.
  2. After an extension installed, there will be no need to restart the browser. Extensions will be active when they are first installed.
  3. Extensions will be used on all of the versions of chrome without uptading the extension.
  4. There will be a extensions gallery to find them easily.

Extensions that I mentioned before:

adsweep

It blocks advertisements on sites that you visited. Uses javascript for css editing.

page rank for chrome

This simple extension shows the google page rank value of the site.

cleeki

That is the most interesting extension in this three. Cleeki enables to use ie8 accelerators feature on other browsers. Now, it can be used also on Chrome. Accelerators is one of the newest and best speciality of IE8 by the way. With this feature, you can do many things with right click menu rather than opening a new page. For example search map, email, translation etc.
